Corn Mother Goddess of Nourishment

Corn Mother - Goddess of NourishmentCorn Mother sweeps into your life to bring focus to nourishment.

Corn Mother reminds us that we are what we eat and commands you take stock of all that you consume. Your body is the sacred vessel of your soul, deserving to be fed with high quality foods and beverages. The Goddess also calls your attention to the cycle of sustenance, as something must die so that you may be nourished. To eat with contempt or fear is to disrespect the gift of life provided by the plants and animals.

In what ways do you disrepute and waste your gifts of nourishment? What poisons do you consume due to the lack of time, addiction or self indulgence? Corn Mother tells you that wholeness will be achieved by taking charge of, and giving blessing to your nourishment.

Suggested Ritual

Go to a quiet, warm place where you will not be disturbed for about 30 minutes. Play soft music if available. Have pen and paper ready.

Sitting with your spine erect take twenty deep calming breaths. Close your eyes and mentally scan your body from toes to head. Ask yourself "What am I thinking?", "What am I feeling?", "What sensations do I have?".

Taking up your piece of paper and pen write down all of the food products and beverages that you consume that do not serve your health.

Write down why you continue to consume these items, e.g. feeling good, habit, comfort eating, time, slave to taste buds, etc.

Write down the costs to your body and life as a result of poor nutrition, and then ...

Write down how you can modify your eating habits, including the contents of your new diet, to provide better nutrition to your body.

Write down all the ways your life and relationships will be improved as a result of better nutrition.

Complete this ritual by giving thanks and blessings prior to consuming all food from this day forth.
